Research

FICH conducts its own research on online hate speech and participates in international studies examining issues such as gender-based violence, radicalization on social media platforms, and other forms of hate.

Training

FICH provides training for professionals and volunteers working with minority groups on how to recognize and report hate speech, as well as how to support those targeted by hate. Training sessions can be arranged online or in person.

Online Hate Speech Monitoring

FICH monitors illegal hate speech online. The Institute submits removal requests to platforms regarding unlawful content and escalates removal procedures through channels established by European Union legislation, specifically the Digital Services Act. FICH participates annually in the European Commission’s hate speech monitoring exercise, during which it tracks how major social media platforms respond to requests for the removal of illegal content and reports the findings to the Commission.
